Right now, the Arizona Republic is running a contest to determine people and organizations that are considered Everyday Green Heroes. What could be a more green and efficient form of transportation than a bicycle? And what could be a more green way of getting a bicycle than by recycling old parts into a new ride?
As such, the local Tempe bike cooperative the Bike Saviours has been nominated in the Non-profit/Business category for their work to get more people on bicycles.
Winners are determined by whichever individuals/groups receive the most votes before October 21. See this page for more contest information and links for voting.

Got some spare bike parts lying around?
Bike Saviours wants your old bikes and bike parts. They will be accepting donations at their booth at Tour de Fat on Saturday, October 11th.
Bring any bikes or parts in any condition. They’ll use them to help others get a bike or keep their bike on the road.
Bike Saviours is a local non-profit bike collective with a focus on teaching people to build and repair bicycles.

Over the past 10 days Tempe Bicycle Action Group has gotten a bit of press in the local media.
First there was this article in the East Valley Tribune that quotes TBAG president Mark Neff on the opening of the BikeStation at the new Tempe Transportation Center.
Then, there was the article Fall bicycle events in Tempe in the Arizona Republic which highlights this month’s TBAG rides (Cupcakes, Farmer’s Market and First Friday), the Tempe Tour de Fat, and Tempe’s 13th annual Tour de Tempe .
Nice to see bicycling in Tempe getting some press!
