From the City of Tempe:

  • We sincerely apologize for the delayed notification of tonight’s meeting.  Door hangers were to be delivered to all business and residents in the area but there was a vendor error with the distribution.  We hope you are able to attend the meeting.

The city of Tempe is holding a public meeting to talk with residents, businesses and organizations about a project to improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities, enhance the streetscape and calm traffic on University Drive between the Union Pacific Railroad (east of Farmer Avenue) and Priest Drive. This project is funded with $1.1 million in federal grant money.

The meeting will be held Oct. 30 at the Dennis J. Cahill Senior Center at the Westside Multi-Gen Center at 715 W. Fifth Street, Tempe at 6 p.m.

Discussion at the meeting will include:
    · Presentation of the project scope and draft design concept

    · Gathering input from residents, businesses and organizations on the draft design concept

    · Updating the public about the project process and timeline

The project will include bicycle and pedestrian enhancements, additional crosswalk opportunities, ADA improvements, public art and landscaping. The project is intended to promote neighborhood stability, sustainable business and development efforts while continuing Tempe’s commitment to alternative modes of transportation.

TBAG Second Saturday Zombie Ride on Saturday, October 13 at 7:30 pm

Meet at TBAG Bike Valet, main entrance to Tempe Beach Park, Rio Salado & Mill Ave in Tempe. Park your bike at the valet (don’t forget your claim ticket!) then creep around till the horde gathers.

The Zombie Mob will stumble, slither and drag their morbid remains in a parade through the Tempe Oktoberfest main concourse, returning to the Bike Valet by 8:15pm.

Bikes will line up, pointed West on Rio Salado, out of the way of automobile traffic and pedestrians. After all Zombies are mounted, the Ride will progress clockwise from Tempe Center For the Arts, over the Pedestrian Bridge, around the lake and over Mill Ave Bridge before continuing to the first stop, Handlebar & Grill at 680 South Mill Ave, Tempe, AZ. (480) 474-4888

Tempe Oktoberfest is a fundraising event in support of Tempe Sister Cities, a non-profit organization. ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL will be condoned. If you intend to drink inside the Festival, be prepared with your ID and cash. It’s strongly recommended to arrive early and get your wristband before the Crawl/ Ride commences.
