It’s coming! Tempe Tour de Fat 2013 scheduled for Oct. 5

TaubersIt’s coming! Mark your calendar now, because you’re going to be busy this Oct. 5. New Belgium Recently released the calendar for the Tour de Fat stops, and October is Tempe’s month!

Last year, the Tour de Fat raised $87,000 for local Arizona nonprofits like TBAG, Bike Saviours and the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona. This was the largest amount raised of any Tour de Fat stop, including New Belgium’s home town of Ft Collins!

This year, let’s go even bigger.

As always, this event depends on your participation – and we don’t just mean dancing  around in your puppy suit or tutu, we need your help to volunteer. In 2012, 350 volunteers helped make the Tour de Fat possible, so be sure to sign up for the all-call for volunteers again this year.

Interested in joining any of the other Tour de Fats? Here’s the newly released schedule for 2013:

Atlanta – May 11
DC – June 1
Durham – June 15
Nashville – June 22
Chicago – July 13
Minneapolis – July 27
Boise – August 17
Ft. Collins – August 31
Denver – September 7

Is your bike greased and lubed?

Just a friendly reminder from your friends at TBAG!

Have you ever lubed a bike chain? How’s about greased those bearings in your bottom bracket? There’s nothing quite like a freshly lubed bicycle chain. Quiet and smooth… no squeaks–heaven! If you’ve got an old style bicycle remember to grease those bearings at least once a year! Lube that chain up once a month, too! More often if you ride more often.

Not making sense? Confuzzled about parts? Need help?! Check out Bike Saviours here!

Cycle Right! Friday Feb 17th 2012

Cycle Right! Invites YOU (and all of your friends) on a bike ride to promote cycling rights and motor-user awareness.

Cyclists are an integral and growing part of our community. Unfortunately, this fun and sustainable mode of transportation can be dangerous in a city built for cars. Our event aims at education and raising awareness for bicycle users so less of us get hurt or even killed by cars. The more of us show up, the better.

It will also be FUN!

There will be a RAFFLE and FOOD TRUCKS!

Bring your helmet, if you have one. But above all else, this event is about education, making a statement, and raising awareness!

Cycle Right! in collaboration with
Bike Saviours Co-Op

Bike Culture by Eric “650c” Iwersen
Sharing the love of bicycles

Bicycle Public Art:   TBAG is seeking to commission an artist (or artists team) to work with to create a permanent public art piece in Tempe, in the Mitchell Park Neighborhoods area.  The project commission is for $15K and is inclusive of all design and fabrication costs associated with the project.   TBAG, the neighborhoods, and the City of Tempe will work with the artist to see the project through to construction.  The intention of the project is to create a local landmark that supports bicycle culture in Tempe.  Artists of all skill levels are encouraged to apply.  Check out for more information.
