Volunteers Needed Friday Oct. 11 – Sunday Oct. 13 2013

Tempe Bicycle Action Group hosts a free ‘bike valet’ – a secured and monitored bicycle parking area at Tempe Beach Park during the Tempe Oktoberfest celebration. Just click on the link below to sign up on the form, and tell your friends to sign up too! Volunteers get free food and beer!Oktoberfest beer

We need volunteers to help set up on Friday, staff the bike valet Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and tear down on Sunday evening. No experience needed! What do you do? Simple enough: Park & watch the good people’s bikes in shifts throughout the weekend and earn free beer and food tickets!

We will have a great time and provide a great service to bikers attending Oktoberfest. All you have to do is hang out with us, valet and watch bikes and chat with bikers as they drop off or pick up their trusty steeds.

Sign up for as many shifts as you would like! There are 3 shifts needed on Friday, 5 on Saturday, and 3 on Sunday. We need a minimum of 3 volunteers per shift per day, but as many as 6 for the peak times – afternoons and closing time, so sign up for several and invite all your friends to help! Each volunteer must sign up individually using this form: http://goo.gl/LKg0uO

TBAG has two premier bicycle valets it puts on each year:  Oktoberfest and the Greater Arizona Beer Festival.

Oktoberfest, http://www.tempeoktoberfest.com, runs October 11-13.  The Greater Arizona Beer Festival, http://www.azbeer.com/tempe.htm, is March 2nd.

We need a Chief Volunteer to make sure these events happen!  Will that be you? Will you organize the legions of other volunteers into shifts, make sure fences get rented and delivered, get people to haul bike racks from storage, find the claim tickets, and make sure that cyclists have a safe place to leave their bike while they sample fine beers?  Get in touch with me (scrottie at biketempe.org).  Our bicycle valets are great visibility for TBAG and a great service for Tempe.  We would do more if we could — we’ve been asked to — but we need to make sure that these two happen.

TBAG Second Saturday Zombie Ride on Saturday, October 13 at 7:30 pm

Meet at TBAG Bike Valet, main entrance to Tempe Beach Park, Rio Salado & Mill Ave in Tempe. Park your bike at the valet (don’t forget your claim ticket!) then creep around till the horde gathers.

The Zombie Mob will stumble, slither and drag their morbid remains in a parade through the Tempe Oktoberfest main concourse, returning to the Bike Valet by 8:15pm.

Bikes will line up, pointed West on Rio Salado, out of the way of automobile traffic and pedestrians. After all Zombies are mounted, the Ride will progress clockwise from Tempe Center For the Arts, over the Pedestrian Bridge, around the lake and over Mill Ave Bridge before continuing to the first stop, Handlebar & Grill at 680 South Mill Ave, Tempe, AZ. (480) 474-4888

Tempe Oktoberfest is a fundraising event in support of Tempe Sister Cities, a non-profit organization. ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL will be condoned. If you intend to drink inside the Festival, be prepared with your ID and cash. It’s strongly recommended to arrive early and get your wristband before the Crawl/ Ride commences.

Ride your bike to the Great Arizona Beer Festival this Saturday March 3rd, and TBAG volunteers will park it for you for free!

It works just like any valet, you give us your bike and we give you a claim ticket matched with one we place on your bike. We then park your bike in a secure area monitored by our volunteers. When you’re done at the festival, bring us your ticket and we’ll retrieve your bike.

The bike valet will be set up at the main entrance to Tempe Beach Park at Mill and Rio Salado.

The great Arizona Beer Festival benefits Sun Sounds of Arizona. Check out the info on the beer fest here: http://azbeer.com/tempe.htm

Everyone knows about the Tour de Fat already, but we have two other big events in October that we need help with:

The Tempe Octoberfest Bike Valet on Oct. 7th-9th.
And the Tour de Tempe Family Ride on Oct 23rd.

We need people to park bikes at the Tempe Octoberfest, and we need ride leaders and help with setup at the Tour de Tempe.

Octoberfest volunteers will get vouchers for free beer and food at the event. Tour de Tempe volunteers will get gift vouchers to Boulders on Broadway. Volunteers signed up for either event will also get free Tour de Fat beer tokens and an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party at Boulders on Broadway on Oct 27th.

So if free beer interests you, sign up today!
