thirdfridaysThis month, TBAG Third Fridays is going on a Bike-In! Join TBAG and riders of all types on Friday, May 15th on a Ride to the Scottsdale 6 Drive-In. Grab a boombox, stuff a blanket and a flashlight into your backpack, and cruise on down with us to the Scottsdale 6! TBAG invites all bike & movie lovers to join us on Friday, May 15th at 6:00 p.m. Tempe Beach Park entrance on the northeast corner of Mill Avenue & Rio Salado.

The ride will depart promptly at 6:30 p.m. for a short 3 mile ride along Tempe Town Lake & Indian Bend Wash to the Scottsdale 6 theater at McKellips & Hayden in south Scottsdale. The ride is absolutely free, you pay only for your own food & entry costs.

What to bring:

  • CASH. Six bucks each. There’s no ATM on site, so grab some money before leaving. There is a convenience store close by at McKellips & Hayden.
  • Blanket, Camp chair (with a strap to carry it), pillows, or sleeping bags.
  • FM Radio with plenty of batteries.
  • Tire repair/ pump – it’s a dirt lot, so take care.
  • Sandals? At your own risk!
  • Battery-powered lanterns… to mark out our territory and make our group more visible to vehicular traffic.
  • Flashlights.
  • More info:

  • TBAG Third Fridays is a quarterly social ride held, of course, on the third Friday of the month. These twilight Rides include Movie nights, Handlebar Happy Hours, Scavenger Hunts, Holiday themed cruises, costumed Rides, and more.
  • Lights – Tempe law requires a front reflector and rear light when riding after dark. If you need a blinkie, Tempe Bicycle Action Group may hook you up for a nominal donation.
  • RSVP? No need to call ahead unless otherwise indicated. Just show up at the start. Feel free to call or email the ride leader for more information 480-577-8427.

    1. Star Trek came out this weekend and Wolverine will still be playing along with other new releases. The feature is followed by an older movie. We always like to let the group come to a vote.

    2. That’s right, I had it reversed – front headlight/ rear reflector. Safest to always use both, regardless. Thanks!

    3. We’ll take the multi-use path along Tempe Town Lake from the park up to McKellips, then on the road for 1/2 mile to the Drive-In at McKellips/Hayden.
